Meet Vadim Smolianinov from Russia who has just passed his IELTS Academic test with an outstanding result of 7.5 points (with 8.0 for Writing). Having studied Diagnostic Medicine and worked in the field of Ultrasound and Medical Radiation Technology for 6 years, Vadim came to New Zealand from his hometown Vladimir in February 2006, specifically to study English. He enrolled in the IELTS preparation English for University programme at Languages International in Auckland. Vadim says he came to New Zealand to improve his English (which was his favorite subject at school) and to explore new career opportunities. He is a qualified Medical Sonographer who aspires one day to practice in New Zealand.
Vadim sat his IELTS in late May while he was still studying towards the exam. When asked what his secret was, Vadim says: Just work hard, don’t miss school, do a lot of self-study and make sure you don’t chat with your fellow Russian students!”
From teachers, classmates and all of us at Languages International, congratulations to Vadim on his well deserved success. We wish him all the best with his future career.
