Samuel had a clear goal when he came to New Zealand to study English in October 2008. He intended to represent Switzerland in rowing at the 2012 Olympic games and wanted to improve his English as part of his preparation for the event. Samuel was probably the most disciplined and focused student we’ve had here at L.I., combining hours of daily training on the water with his English studies and squeezing in a bit of socialising when time and energy allowed.
Some of the students and staff thought Samuel looked a little like Superman (Dean Cain‘s TV version) and it appears as if he has lived up to his nickname!
The team at L.I. send their congratulations and best wishes to Samuel. We never doubted that he’d achieve his goal.

Congratulations, Samuel, on representing your country at the Olympics.
That's such a huge achievement. Where did you train when you were in Christchurch?
Congratulations again, and I hope you are getting some well earned rest.
Congratulations Samuel!
Its a good example to prove that with discipline and hard working, you can achieve what you want in life.
