Starting on June 24th, Languages International is running a four-week, intensive CELTA course at our Central Auckland school. There are still places available, but the course is filling fast. It’s not too late to get your application in.
You can get more information and application forms from our website by clicking on CELTA.
The Cambridge CELTA is the most widely-recognized international qualification in English language teaching. It is considered an initial qualification in this field, and the course leading to it is designed for people without previous teaching experience, as well as those who have had experience but could benefit from formal training.
The course is highly practical, placing a considerable emphasis on candidates’ performance in observed teaching practice sessions. There is a ratio of 6 candidates to one tutor on courses. Teaching practice takes place in groups of 6 trainees with volunteer groups of English language learners at two different levels.
Languages International has trained and developed over 1,200 teachers since it ran its first teacher training course in 1988. LITEC (Languages International Teacher Education Centre) runs a variety of courses for native speakers and non-native speakers in Auckland, New Zealand.
Our trainers are all highly qualified (at least half the team have an MA in Applied Linguistics) and have experience in countries as diverse as Australia, Canada, USA, Egypt, England, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Japan, Thailand, Sweden, Vietnam, Russia, Lebanon and Turkey.
We were the first centre in New Zealand to run the RSA/Cambridge CTEFLA (now Cambridge CELTA) as well as the RSA/Cambridge DTEFLA (now Cambridge Delta). We have also run professional development seminars for language teachers from schools around Auckland, including second language tutors at Auckland University.
Here is what graduates from our teacher training course say about us:
“The tutors were amazing. I didn’t really know what to expect from this course, but now I feel ready to start my teaching career.”
“Great course, well-organised, great tutors, really helpful.”
“I loved tutors’ energy and expertise and appreciated how approachable and helpful they were.”
