This Sunday, 18 students, 1 teacher and his daughter headed out of the city, into the peaceful surrounds of the Waitakere forest. We had a picnic surrounded by native New Zealand trees and then hopped aboard the Waitakere tram. Originally built to carry material to the damn that supplies 5% of Auckland’s water, the tramline is now a beautiful journey through tunnels full of glow worms, bridges over streams, under waterfalls and stunning views.
With so much amazing nature only 45 minutes from the school, everyone agreed we should go back more often – so we will, this week on a nature walk, next week to Bethells Beach.
